Because I love the Creation — wide open skies, water and creatures, the play of light — and have a kinesthetic need to explore their intricacy and beauty, I have drawn and painted since early childhood. Exploring the essence of what I see and experience is fundamentally important to me. It also provides a way to share and celebrate with others what moves me deeply.
This beautiful lake is typical of many in the high Sierras and was a joy to paint after I returned home. The clear air allows one to see astonishing distances, and the constantly changing billowing clouds often mirror the landscape and reflect in the water. The simple magnificence of granite mountains and trees — honed and sculpted by wind and storm — puts our own lives in perspective.
