Because I love the Creation — wide open skies, water and creatures, the play of light — and have a kinesthetic need to explore their intricacy and beauty, I have drawn and painted since early childhood. Exploring the essence of what I see and experience is fundamentally important to me. It also provides a way to share and celebrate with others what moves me deeply.
Description
One beautiful summer day at a NC Plein Air Festival, I painted this scene and won Honorable Mention for it. Artists were camped out along the main street with easels and paints, enjoying the movement of light and later the deepening shadows that added drama to the view.
This elegantly simple old building reflects an earlier era when trains were an essential means of transport. I love the sense of nostalgia watercolor brings to this scene.
