California Winery
Pastel, 17.5” × 13.5”
A Northern California winery with old‑growth vines, painted from on‑site sketches and finished in pastel.
Because I love the Creation — wide open skies, water and creatures, the play of light — and have a kinesthetic need to explore their intricacy and beauty, I have drawn and painted since early childhood. Exploring the essence of what I see and experience is fundamentally important to me. It also provides a way to share and celebrate with others what moves me deeply.
This pastel depicts one of my favorite wineries in Northern California, with old‑growth vines stretching across the foreground. I made several sketches on site and later completed this pastel at home. The combination of aged vines, warm California light, and the quiet beauty of the landscape made it a joy to paint.
