Originally from Portugal, I came to the U.S.A. to pursue a PhD in Neuroscience. After an academic career as a research scientist, I transitioned to painting full time. My work explores the intersection of science, existential inquiry, and the evolving human condition.

Rooted in my background in neuroscience, my artistic practice investigates what it means to be human, especially as our biology is increasingly entangled with artificial technologies and machine-body interfaces. In my recent series, I reflect on the transformation of the human form and psyche in a time of accelerated evolution.

The questions that drive me are both scientific and philosophical: What are we, and what might we become? My paintings are a space to hold those questions, not to answer them, but to invite others into the inquiry.
