Celtic Pottery

Celtic Pottery began at a kitchen table in Virginia in 2002. The founders of Celtic Pottery, Timothy Moran and Janet Gaddy and came to the table with contrasting backgrounds. Tim’s introduction to pottery came fourteen years ago as a form of therapy after his life changing triple by-pass surgery and an early retirement from the broadcasting industry. Influenced by years of collecting beautiful art forms of amphora and European art glass, Tim made a natural transition into creating beautiful pottery forms influenced by his collection. Janet’s first educational experience with pottery came in 1970 with a Junior High School art class. Years later she would return to the same classroom to teach both graphic art and pottery. Today pottery has become a full time venture that focuses on crystalline glazing of wheel thrown porcelain forms. Each piece they create contains the joint effort of forming, glazing and firing using fine porcelain, zinc crystals are grown inside the glaze during the multi-level firing schedule. The process can take up to 30 hours on a single piece.
