Celtic Pottery

Celtic Pottery began at a kitchen table in Virginia in 2002. The founders of Celtic Pottery, Timothy Moran and Janet Gaddy and came to the table with contrasting backgrounds. Tim’s introduction to pottery came fourteen years ago as a form of therapy after his life changing triple by-pass surgery and an early retirement from the broadcasting industry. Influenced by years of collecting beautiful art forms of amphora and European art glass, Tim made a natural transition into creating beautiful pottery forms influenced by his collection. Janet’s first educational experience with pottery came in 1970 with a Junior High School art class. Years later she would return to the same classroom to teach both graphic art and pottery. Today pottery has become a full time venture that focuses on crystalline glazing of wheel thrown porcelain forms. Each piece they create contains the joint effort of forming, glazing and firing using fine porcelain, zinc crystals are grown inside the glaze during the multi-level firing schedule. The process can take up to 30 hours on a single piece.

Description

Inspired by a trip to Lahaina, Hawaii and seeing the many Sea Turtles, I put together the lore of the Sea Turtle.

The turtle is one of the oldest living animals in the world. There is so much wisdom that you can gain from the turtle symbolism, such as persistence and endurance.

When the turtle appears to you, it’s time to slow down. It travels light and goes at its own pace, and this is what you should be doing with your life when things start to get overwhelming.

The turtle symbolism asks you to protect yourself and those you love. Whenever you feel threatened, retreat safely and create an emotional or spiritual shield.

Protect yourself from hurtful memories, bad influences, and negative forces. In your retreat, gain wisdom and gather strength to help you move forward.

The turtle meaning also encourages you to let yourself go with the tides and just surrender. Trust that you will get to where you need to be.
