I’ve been creating for as long as I can remember, starting with the earliest days of coloring and drawing. Nature and animals show up in almost everything I make — they’re at the heart of how I see the world.

I work across many mediums, including painting, drawing, printmaking, ceramics, and fused glass, I’m currently focused on collage. I build these pieces from paper and scraps most people would throw away like candy wrappers, wallpaper samples, and bits of everyday life.

I love turning trash into something beautiful. Using discarded materials to create images of the natural world feels like its own kind of statement: beauty can come from what we often overlook and that nothing is truly waste until we decide it is.

Description

This piece is part of my Garden Statue series.

My own garden is what inspired this series. Spending time there has always felt restorative to me and I
wanted to capture that feeling in my work.
These pieces feature garden statuary surrounded by foliage and flowers, created with watercolor and
colored pencil on paper. I was drawn to the contrast between the hard, solid forms of the statues and
the soft, living greenery growing around them. I hope these works convey a sense of peace and serenity.
Like the feeling of spending time in a garden, slowing down, and letting your spirit recharge.
