I enjoy creating paintings that bubble up memories. Such as: “I used to go to a church that looked like that!” Or “That tree reminds me of Spring” or “I miss those vacations at the lake”. Sometimes I paint landscapes that invite me there. “Wow I’d like to visit that town!” I hope you have a similar connection. And then there are sometimes when I purposely distort portions of the painting so it looks nothing like my reference.

I guess it encourages you to make up your own sense of connection. Even if it is “what in the world was she thinking!?!?!” My paintings’ purpose is simply to make you smile.
