As an artist, I nourish my inspiration from the rich variety of colors and forms of Greensboro, North Carolina. The light of North Carolina is unique, each season with new tonalities. I work in my garden with my own hands every spring and summer to create compositions for my art pieces. I work on a variety of media, such as watercolors, pastels, and oil paintings. One of my passions is to paint human bodies and portraits, for which I do commissions. I have been an artist since the age of twelve but formally since I was 18. I currently have a studio at the Creative Aging Network, a nonprofit organization made up of a vibrant community of artists surrounded by gardens and a forest. Painting, drawing, and sketching give me a deep sense of happiness and fulfillment. I think art connects us to our community in a deeper way by bringing beauty, hope, and a sense of spirituality. That is, in my view, art is an essential nourishment for the wellbeing of society.
