I've been a working artist since the 1960's, beginning as a painter in oils, when I joined an artist's life drawing group run by a sculptor. She encouraged me to work in sculpture, so I began carving wood and fell in love with the medium. I then began using found objects combined with carving....by working with a variety of shapes and materials I had to keep learning different methods of joining and using space in the round - Truly fascinating! And , because I have periods of time when I'm looking for a special shape to fit a sculpture, I have time to pursue my other loves: Painting in oil and reverse on glass, drawing, collage, and tapestry. I hope to create a body of work that will encourage people to use art to continue to find and live with beauty in ordinary things in their world and to keep learning all their lives.
