Brenda Olds Carter


Artists Statement:

Brenda Olds Carter is an American artist whose paintings are revered for their bold, vibrant colors, detail lines, and movement. Brenda was born in Snow Hill, North Carolina, where she grew up in Eastern North Carolina, under the guidance of her parents Merritt and Lucille Olds. Brenda discovered her love for art at a very young age under the guidance of her mother, Lucille Olds, who motivated by her mother, Essie Albritton and the ladies in the community. Brenda received her Bachelor of Arts/Education Degree in Art Design/Art Education from North Carolina Agricultural and State University Greensboro, North Carolina. It was during this time she develop a love for painting, under the direction of Mr. James McKoy and Dr. T. McGrady.

Brenda has specialized in mixed media art as well acrylic, watercolor, stained glass, and fiber arts, during her extensive career as an artist. Her work has been featured in Collegiate Magazine, Delta Kappa Gamma International online Art Gallery, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University Alumni Art Exhibit, We Art Greensboro Exhibit, MERGE, and Red Dog Gallery. She taught art for 34 years with Guilford County Schools, 20 years with Center for Visual Arts Summer Art Camp and Adult Art Classes, and 3 years at High Point TAG. Brenda retired from Guilford County Schools as an Elementary Art Teacher and has since focus on working on her personal artwork.
