From the very beginning, working with my hands, making outstanding messes, and creating have always been who I am. As a child, teenager, and then art student at UNCG, my work was in painting, but the first time I sat behind a pottery wheel, I was hooked. Using the same color palette as in my paintings, I find it much more gratifying to create works that are functional and used everyday. There is something satisfying about making and holding a balanced and beautifully glazed vessel that is difficult to accurately describe. The act of creating for me, particularly works for everyday use, feels primeval, and as naturally essential as eating, walking, laughing, loving and breathing. My aesthetic usually includes round, lyrical shapes and a soothing color palette.
