Dottie Blanchard

Artists Statement:

After retiring from a technical career, I began watercolor painting classes. I am a certified workshop junkie as I continue to search for my artistic voice. I am having fun experimenting with a variety of techniques, as well as subjects and surfaces such as yupo, gessoed paper and masa paper. I am intrigued with the transparency of the medium and how significantly learning to paint has enhanced the way I see the world.

I am fortunate to have opportunities to travel to interesting locations. Many of my paintings are inspired by and adapted from my travel photographs. I am enjoying learning to express my inner artist and thrilled when one of her paintings speaks to someone.

I am a member of the Watercolor Society of NC and have participated in Artstock in Greensboro for several years. I moved to Alamance County in 2019 and now am a member of the Alamance Artisans Guild.
